Will Allah forgive me if I keep committing the same sin?

Yes. As long as you sincerely repent each time, Allah keeps forgiving. Falling into the same sin again doesn't close the door of mercy. What matters is that you keep turning back to Allah, regret the sin, and genuinely try to stop. Despair is the real danger, not the struggle.

Allah keeps forgiving

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ described a servant who sins and asks for forgiveness, then sins again and asks again. Each time, Allah says: "My slave has known that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes for it, I therefore have forgiven my slave" (Sahih al-Bukhari 7507).

The hadith doesn't say Allah stops after the second or third time.

قُلْ يَـٰعِبَادِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ لَا تَقْنَطُوا۟ مِن رَّحْمَةِ ٱللَّهِ "Say, O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah." Quran 39:53

Humans are made to return

The Prophet ﷺ said that if people didn't sin, Allah "would replace (you by) those people who would commit sin and seek forgiveness from Allah, and He would have pardoned them" (Sahih Muslim 2749).

This doesn't make sin acceptable. It shows that Allah loves the act of turning back to Him. One of His names is At-Tawwab, the One who keeps accepting repentance, again and again.

What sincere repentance looks like

  • Stop the sin when you repent.
  • Regret it genuinely.
  • Intend not to return, even if you fear you might.
  • Make it right with people, if the sin harmed someone.

Fearing you'll slip again doesn't cancel your repentance, as long as your intention in that moment is real.

Breaking the cycle

  • Identify triggers: times, places, apps or people.
  • Close the doors: block sites, delete apps, change routines.
  • Fill the gap with good habits, prayer on time and good company.
  • Talk to a trusted mentor or counselor, especially for addictions.

Don't let Shaytan win with despair

A common trick is the thought: "I've failed so many times, Allah must be done with me." That thought is the real trap. For your past before Islam, see Are all my sins forgiven when I become Muslim?

Key points
  • Allah forgives repeated sins when you sincerely repent.
  • Repentance means stopping, regretting and intending not to return.
  • Despair of Allah's mercy is itself dangerous.
  • Close the doors that lead you back to the sin.
Tip: Each time you slip, pray two rak'ahs and ask forgiveness right away. Turning back quickly weakens the sin's hold over you.
